A 68-year-old here has set his life apart to promote nationalism among the youth and society.
Kaviyoor Rajasekharan, a retired government teacher, is devoted to the Gandhian principles and is dedicated in his fight against the menace of alcoholism. The writer-activist has penned several Malayalam poems, that evoke love for one’s homeland.
‘Deepthamee Sneham’ is a compilation of his works. In a letter written in April this year, Defence Minister A K Antony lauded the Gandhian’s writings.
Rajasekharan had retired from NSS TTI as the principal in 1999. In his academic stint spanning 33 years, he was instrumental in inspiring young minds, instilling in them a love for the nation.
He completed his BSc and MEd from Kerala University. He had submitted a thesis to MG University on ‘A study on the academic achievements of secondary school students who have shown good performance in sports and games’.
The veteran’s inspiring poems have appeared in children’s magazines and one of his poems, titled ‘National Flag’, has been translated to English. “The poem will help instil a spirit of nationalism among English medium school children,” he said.
Rajasekharan intends to translate several Hindi poems that have nationalistic fervour to Malayalam. He performs a recital on all Independence Day programmes at the alumni association meeting of Mar Thoma College here.
