With the clout of regional parties reduced due to BJP's massive win in the Lok Sabha polls, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday hoped that issues like foreign policy and water sharing agreements between states would now be dictated by national interest.
"Hopefully foreign policy, water sharing agreements ~~amp;amp; things like these can be dictated by what is in national interest now onwards," he said on Twitter. The Chief Minister said it must be a "strange" feeling for regional political parties with more than 30 members in the Lok Sabha to have no say at the Centre.
"It must feel so strange for regional leaders with 30+ MPs to have no say in Delhi. Earlier, they would sneeze ~~amp;amp; the Center would catch a cold," he said.
NDA which comprises BJP and 24 smaller parties bagged 335 seats. The BJP won 282 seats on its own. The half way mark is 272 in the 543-member House.
