Dola and Bombayla Devi lost their respective opening round matches.

Beijing: Dola Banerjee, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Pranitha Vardhineni have crashed out of the women's individual archery event at the Olympics.

While Dola and Bombayla Devi lost their respective opening round matches on Tuesday, Vardhineni lost in the round of 16.

Dola lost to Canadian Marie-Pier Beaudet while Bombayla went down to Poland's Iwona Marcinkiewicz.

In a thrilling contest, Dola and Beaudet were tied at 109 at the end of the contest but the Canadian sneaked through after scoring a 10 in the shoot-off.

Dola could only manage an 8 in the deciding shot.

Bombayla, on the other hand, also lost a nail-biting match. The Indian was defeated 101-103 by Marcinkiewicz.

Bombayla was neck-an-neck with her rival for most of the match but lost the plot towards the end against the Pole, who kept her cool to come out trumps.

Vardhineni won in the first round but lost to North Korea and world No. 5 Sil Un Kwon 99 to 106 in the round of 16.

In rowing the pair of Devender Kumar Khandwal and Manjeet Singh finished a disappointing fifth in the Lightweight Men's Double Sculls Repechage 2.

The Indians clocked 7:02.06s, 23 seconds behind the winners -- Pedro Fraga and Nuno Mendes -- of Portugal who crossed the finishing line in 6:39.07s.

Devender and Manjeet's effort extinguished their chances of making it to the semifinals of the event and will now compete for inconsequential 13-24 places.

Cuban duo of Eyder Batista and Yunior Perez came second with a timing of 6:40.15s.
