No complaint received: DGP

KANNUR: Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose has said that he had not received any complaint regarding the derogatory remarks made by Forests Minister K B Ganesh Kumar against Opposition Leader VS Achuthanandan.Talking to mediapersons here on Friday, the DGP said that he hadn’t seen the news reports or TV visuals of Ganesh Kumar’s speech as he was on an official tour. “I can’t say whether any action could be taken against Ganesh Kumar on the basis of the speech before going into the details,” he added.Replying to a question, the DGP said that the  investigation into the Valakam incident was progressing and that the court had been informed of the progress in the investigation. To another question whether the investigation into the case would be handed over to the CBI, Jacob Punnoose said that he had received no such directive from the government.The DGP said that the issues pointed out by the DIG in his report on the Kanhangad violence would be examined.
