HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation's recognised union NMU has decided to join the APSRTC's endeavour to augment its revenue. The NMU will obstruct illegal operation of private buses in the state on December 7 and 8.
A decision to this effect was taken at the NMU's minigeneral body meeting held in Nellore. Speaking to Express here on Sunday, NMU state president M Nageswara Rao said over 2,000 private buses in the guise of contract carriages were being operated everyday in the state causing a huge revenue loss to the RTC."Already, the APSRTC is running in loss. But the RTA officials are allowing operation of private buses as stage carriages. Thousands of private buses are being operated to various destinations from Hyderabad everyday," he said.
