Mild tension prevailed at Erragattu on the outskirts of Hanamkonda on Monday, following the death of 14-year-old R Akhilesh (14), who was a 9th class student at Tejaswini Residential High School.

Activists of various students organisations, along with family members of Akhilesh, staged a dharna at the high school, holding the school management responsible for boy’s death.

Akhilesh had allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the exhaust fan in the toilet of the school using a towel.

The school management, rushed the boy to MGH Hospital, after alerting the boy’s parents and police about the incident.

But the boy died on the way.

Protesting parents and others alleged that it was due to negligence of school authorities that Akilesh committed suicide.

However, the protestors relented after having a discussion with the school authorities.

It is learnt that the authorities agreed to pay solatium to the bereaved family.

Police also pacified them that they will conduct a fair investigation and register cases against whoever was responsible for the boy’s death.

Akhilesh, a native of Bimaram village, near Warangal, was a student of Tejaswini school since 6th standard.

Only this year, he took admission to residential school.

Akhilesh’s father, R Koteswar Rao, is an electrician in city.

Recently, Akhilesh had underwent surgery for removal of appendix.

Koteshwar Rao told the school authorities about the delicate health condition of Akhilesh and requested them to take extra care of his son.

He wanted them to call him if there was any problem.

The school authorities said they did not notice any health problems and they suspected that Akhilesh took the drastic step due to personal reasons Akhilesh’s body was handed over to his family members after postmortem at MGM hospital.

A case has been registered at Hasanparti police station and and investigation is on.

Hasnparti police inspector MA Moses told Express that he would be able to say how the boy had died after receiving the postmortem report.
