BANGALORE: The new BBMP Standing Committee chairperson Malathi, has assured to extend help to all the BBMP markets, but refused to comment on the ongoing controversies about Russell Market. Despite repeated requests, the civic bodies have still not provided basic facilities like power, water and sanitation to the Russell traders. The newly elected chairperson said she would first study the reports, and if needed, she would coordinate with the former chairperson and take action. “Firstly, I will inspect all the markets. My priority is to bring in revenue and reforms to the 153 markets under BBMP. I will discuss the matter with former Standing Committee chairperson Roopa Ramesh. I will assure support to all traders’ associations in BBMP limits,” Malathi said. Russell Market traders in association with traders of other markets, will meet the chairperson on Tuesday.
