BANGALORE: The state government will soon introduce a scheme called K-Kisan (Karnataka Krishi Information Services and Networking) to ensure better coordination between its various agencies to guide farmers on effective and innovative farm practices.Under the scheme, the government plans to network Raith Sampark Kendras, offices of assistant and joint directors of agriculture, state-run agricultural laboratories and other agencies so that farmers could get credible information. The state Cabinet which met here on Friday approved the project which would be implemented at a cost of Rs 53 crore.“Our aim is to provide round-the-clock information to farmers on various issues pertaining to agriculture,” Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sureshkumar said while briefing the media on the Cabinet’s decisions.The government has also decided to revamp the Nemmadi centres — the one-stop facility to avail government services at rural areas besides extending these centres to the gram panchayat level. For this, government will set up 447 new sub-tehsils and appoint the required staff.
