New Delhi: You can now talk to art objects at the National Museum.
The audio guide will allow visitors to identify important exhibits. With practically no other facility available to the visitors to learn about the objects they see, the audio tour will add a new dimension to the museum experience.
The audio guide covers 55 stops of the museum?s collection of artifacts. The visitors will carry small, lightweight digital MP3 audio players and can view the exhibits in any sequence.
Australian High Commissioner John McCarthy released the audio guide in five languages?Hindi, English, Japanese, French and German?at the museum on Friday.
Produced and managed by Australian company Narrowcasters, the audio trip will help visitors and art connoisseurs move beyond the labels, which only mention the name and date of the exhibits.
The company has provided audio guide services to the National Gallery of Australia, the Australian Parliament House, Mumbai's Prince of Wales Museum, as well as the Mehangarh Fort in Jodhpur.
The audio tour will be inclusive of the ticket, which has been pegged at Rs 300 for foreign visitors.
Punch-marked coins from the 6th Century BC to 2nd Century BC as well as Indo-Greek coins from the 1st Century at the yet-to-be-opened gallery "From Cowries to Credit Cards" will also be included in the audio tour.
