Mumbai: Strongly condemning the violence at Maruti Suzuki's plant at Manesar, Infosys Chairman Emeritus NR Narayana Murthy on Monday said differences between management and workers should be resolved in a peaceful manner and not violently.

"It is not right, whatever differences (between the management and workers) we have, we have to settle them in a courteous manner," he said on the sidelines of an event organised by Aspen Institute here.

The IT czar was responding to a question on the large-scale violence at the Japanese carmaker's Manesar facility in Haryana, in which a senior Maruti Suzuki HR executive was killed and 100 others were injured.

The management of India's largest carmaker has declared a lockout at the facility which saw arson and vandalism allegedly by contract labourers on July 18.
