Mumbai: A Dubai-bound Emirates flight, with 202 people on board, landed under emergency conditions on Wednesday at the airport in Mumnai soon after take-off due to engine failure.

"Following a crisis call from the Mumbai-Dubai Emirates flight (EK507), the air traffic control declared a full landing emergency at the airport at 1558 hours," a Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) spokesperson said.

He said the aircraft with 202 passengers and crew safely returned to the airport at 1609 hours.

The flight had to abort the scheduled trip and return to the airport soon after being airborne at 1535 hours as one of its engines failed, the spokesman said.
