Mumbai double murder: Prime suspect Vidyadhar wanted money from Hema, say sources
According to sources, Vidyadhar called Hema in the afternoon and told her that he had some clinching evidence against Hema’s estranged husband, contemporary artist Chintan Upadhyay, but he wanted money in return.

In exclusive revelations in the murder of artist Hema Upadhyay and her lawyer Harish Bhambhani, prime suspect Vidyadhar alias Vidya had called Hema on the day of murder. According to sources, Vidyadhar called Hema in the afternoon and told her that he had some clinching evidence against Hema’s estranged husband Chintan Upadhyay, but he wanted money in return.

It is also learnt that Hema brought her lawyer to Vidyadhar's warehouse in Laljipada, Kandivali. Vidyadhar got into an altercation with Hema after which she slapped Vidyadhar.

Vidyadhar and the other accused put chloroform in a cloth and gagged both Hema and Harish. Vidyadhar used the tempo used for transporting his finished product to dispose off the bodies.

The sources added that the motive behind the murder was that Vidyadhar wanted money from Hema amounting to Rs. 5.2 lakhs. Hema refused to give the money after which Vidydhar lost his cool.

Hours after he was arrested Monday, Shivkumar Rajbhar, one of the accused in the murder of artist Hema Upadhyay and her lawyer Harish Bhambhani, told police that he and four others eliminated the duo in Mumbai after Hema defaulted on a payment for an idol made by his employer, Vidyadhar alias Vidya, a metal fabrication artist who is missing and is prime suspect.
