Moderate to heavy rainfall and thundershowers were witnessed in the isolated areas in Uttar Pradesh even as rivers Sharda and Ghaghra continue to flow above the danger mark. MeT office sources in Lucknow said that chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms: Bareilly-10, Katerniaghat-9, Deoband-7, Saharanpur-4, Sahabad and Puranpur-3 each, Akbarpur (KNP), Misrikh, Aonla,and Hapur-2 each.

The Met officials forecast rain and thundershowers would occur at few places in the state in the next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over west UP and heavy rainfall in the state during the next 48 hours.

Central water commission sources said Sharda and Ghahghra continued to flow over the danger mark at a number of places in the state. Ganga which was flowing close to the danger mark at Fatehgarh and Kanpur, while Sharda was flowing above the red mark at Palia Kalan and close to the mark at Shardanagar.

Ghaghra was flowing above the red mark at Elgin Bridge in Barabanki, Ayodhya and Turtipar in Ballia, they said, adding that Rapti was also flowing near the danger level at Shrawasti, Balrampur, Bansi and Birdghat (Gorakhpur). Quano river which was flowing above the danger mark at Mukhlispur in Sant Kabir Nagar, has now receded.
