BANGALORE: Terming ‘secure communications’ as one of the most important requirements of the armed forces in the country, the Computer Society of India (CSI) said that ensuring information security was the need of the hour.Announcing the 7th National Conference on IT in Defence with the theme ‘Information warfare and Cyber Defence’, CR Chakraborthy, Event Chairperson said that the two day event that will be held between November 17 and 18 would see the participation of over 300 delegates. He said that new age weapon systems had super fast reaction time and it was important to have measures to operate the same.Speaking to the media, he said that areas of cryptology and other areas were given more focus to ensure that information was not intercepted by adversaries and used against the nation. “Most sensitive messages are encrypted using codes so that even if intercepted, the information in it would be unintelligible,” he said.
