THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An expected win in the Piravom bypoll turning into an amazing mandate has come as a big relief for the UDF and an endorsement of policies followed by the Oommen Chandy Govt.For the ruling front, which had waged a do-or-die battle at the hustings by keeping aside all differences, the victory is double sweet as the LDF and the CPM were already struggling to cope with the resignation of an MLA from their fold. For Oommen Chandy and his team, the poll outcome is a morale-booster on many counts.If Anoop Jacob can view his resounding victory in his first poll battle as personal over and above the political factors, the result will consolidate Oommen Chandy’s position as Chief Minister.
