CHENNAI: The driver of the lorry, which was allegedly involved in the accident that killed Tamil Nadu Environment Minister N Mariam Pitchai on May 23, has been arrested, police said today.Tamil Nadu CB-CID traced the driver, Rahamathullah at Vijayawada this morning and he is being brought to Chennai for further investigation, a police statement said.The lorry with Andhra Pradesh registration was tracked by the CB-CID and 'detained' at Kadagpur, West Bengal, it said.The 60-year-old Pitchai died on the spot when his car collided with a lorry at Tiruvelankurichi, about 40 km from Tiruchirappalli.The lorry had sped away.Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had ordered a probe, saying people and her partymen suspect there was "some mystery" about it.The relevant details were collected through the check posts concerned and verified, the statement said.Additional DGP of CB-CID, Archana Ramasundaram had earlier visited the accident site.
