Manipur braces for simultaneous blockades by Naga groups
While an indefinite blockade has been imposed by ANSAM and KSO, the JAC has called for a four-day-long 'chakka bandh'.

Several Naga groups have called for simultaneous blockade along the national highways in Manipur. While an indefinite blockade has been imposed by the All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) and Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), the JAC has called for a four-day-long 'chakka bandh'.

This comes even as the United Naga Council (UNC) imposed another 48-hour bandh from midnight of February 4 in all the hill districts of Manipur.

The JAC announced the blockade against the anti-tribal bills, and is being supported by other tribal bodies like United Naga Council. They announced a blockade on all highways passing through the tribal areas of the state as well as all national highways.

The Kuki Students' Organisation and the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur have in a joint statement warned to launch an indefinite highway bandh from Monday in view of the failure from the state government fulfill their demands.

The groups have said that they would give exemption only to religious programme, earthquake related activities, medical, electricity, water supply and media.
