A man was shot dead by some unidentified persons in Krishna Nagar locality here over an old enmity, police said on Thursday. Mahesh, about 30-year-old, was shot when he was returning home on Wednesday night and died on the spot, they said.

The victim had a number of criminal cases lodged against him, Superintendent of Police J P Shahi said, adding, that an old enmity appeared to be the reason behind the murder.
