Man kills wife, hangs self

BANGALORE: A 30-year-old man enraged over not getting dowry murdered his wife before committing suicide. The incident was reported at the couple’s residence in Nelagadaranahalli in Peenya police station limits on Friday.Ravi, ended his life by hanging after killing wife Lakshmi (28). The couple had married five years ago and had a four-year-old child. The duo were working in a garment factory and had left their kid with Lakshmi’s parents in Malavalli.According to the police, Ravi was upset with Lakshmi and her parents as they had not given dowry at the time of marriage. Irked by that, he allegedly harassed Lakshmi to bring dowry and this had led to frequent fights between the couple. Depressed over this, Lakshmi had returned to her parents three months ago. However, her relatives had convinced her and had sent her back.Their neighbours allegedly heard the couple quarrelling two days ago and after that they had not seen them. On Friday morning, they sensed foul smell and informed the police, who broke open the door and found  the couple dead.“It is suspected that following a heated argument Ravi has killed his wife by hitting her head with a blunt weapon. Then he has committed suicide by hanging afraid of getting arrested,” the police added.
