BANGALORE: Angry after his wife did not give consent in selling a property, a man sedated his wife and hacked her to death. The incident was reported at BHEL Layout in Raja Rajeshwari Nagar police station limits in the wee hours of Sunday.The deceased has been identified as Bharathi (40). Shivananda (48)an employee of a private travel agency allegedly murdered his wife and has been arrested by the police. According to the police, Shivananda had financial problems and had decided to sell his house. When he discussed the matter with Bharathi, she object. This led to a tiff between the couple and they quarrelled over the issue. At around 2 am on Sunday, Bharathi was allegedly attacked with a machete by her husband and she came running out her room screaming for help. Her son Vinay Prasad, who was asleep, woke up and rushed her to a nearby private hospital. However, she succumbed to injuries at the hospital. It is suspected that the accused had made her consume sedative before she slept, the police added.Later, Vinay filed a case alleging his father of murdering his mother. Based on that, the police arrested Shivananda. The couple also had another son, Naveen, who had gone to his relatives house when the murder took place, the police said.Raja Rajeshwari Nagar police have registered a murder case and further investigations are on.
