PUDUCHERRY: A man was arrested for hurling a country-made bomb at his mother-in-law’s residence here on Sunday. Three country-made bombs were also seized from him his residence. Senior Superintendent of Police (law and order) V J Chandiran said Raji alias ‘Bomb’ Baskar was arrested based on a complaint from his mother-in-law, Sarasu.According to her complaint, she had reportedly refused to send her daughter to Baskar’s house because of his involvement in criminal activities. On Saturday, Baskar arrived at her residence on a motor cycle and hurled a country-made bomb in front of her house, with the intention of endangering her life.Acting on her subsequent complaint, a special police team was formed to nab ‘Bomb’ Baskar. Led by SP (South) A Nandagopal, the team traced Baskar to a house in New Saram.On Sunday, Baskar was arrested by Gokulakrishnan, a sub-inspector with the Mudaliarpet police. On the basis of his confession, three country-made bombs were seized from his residence. Baskar has eight cases including murder and attempt to murder registered against him.
