Malegaon blast: Advani meets PM, complains about ATS
Politics over the ATS probe into the blast is continuing.

New Delhi: The Malegaon blast investigations have spiraled into a raging political controversy.

Politics over the Anti-Terrorism Squad's (ATS) investigation into the Malegaon blast is continuing.

BJP's prime ministerial candidate, L K Advani has now spoken to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue.

He said the ATS should not torture the Malegaon blast suspects, Lt Col Purohit and Sadhvi Pragya.

The Prime Minister is believed to have defended the ATS, saying it was doing its job, while at the same time assuring no one would be tortured.

The BJP had earlier said that the Sadhvi, Lt Col Purohit and Dayanand Pande were being framed by the Maharashtra ATS.

The Sadhvi had alleged in court that she was being tortured and that the narco-analysis test on her had been conducted without her consent.

Dayanand Pande and major (retd) Ramesh Upadhyay, too, have claimed that they were tortured by the ATS. But the ATS has rubbished these claims and says it has submitted reports of regular medical check ups to the court.

Political pressure not withstanding, the ATS claims that it has mounting evidence against the arrested accused, which it will file before the court of law along with the charge sheet within the stipulated period of 90 days.
