Pastor Maldonado of the Williams is eager to stay with the team beyond this season so that he can win the Formula One world championship with them.
The 27-year-old driver, who won the Spanish Grand Prix in May this year, said he is looking forward to stay with the Williams even in the next season and wants to challenge for the drivers' title.
"I would, without doubt, stay there a while, a year at least. Before leaving Williams I would like to win the championship with them. I would give the opportunity for this great team - that gave me the opportunity for me to get on the F1 grid for the first time - to win a world championship," Maldonado was quoted as saying by as.com during a press conference in Venezuela.
Talking about the possibility of taking a job with a different team, the Venezuelan driver said, "In F1 you never know what might happen ... there are enough teams on the grid."
Maldonado will compete in Belgian Grand Prix, season's 12th race, on September 2. Ferrari's Fernando Alonso is leading the drivers' standing this time with 164 points, while the Red Bull's duo of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel are second and third respectively.
