TIRUVARUR: Any government has to depend on borrowings for implementing welfare schemes, M Karunanidhi, DMK President and former Chief Minister, said here on Saturday. Speaking at a meeting organised in the wake of the arrest of Tiruvarur District DMK Secretary, Poondi Kalaivanan, Karunanidhi said, a budget needs to be released taking the views of the Opposition as well. The DMK rule had always adopted this practice.When the members of the DMK were arrested, they were not given sufficient time to explain their stand, he pointed out.Referring to the accident in which a boy was killed and the arrest of Poondi Kalaivanan, Karunanidhi said Kalaivanan had nothing to do with the accident.DMK town secretary, R Sankar, presided. Former TN ministers and others participated.
