Rockets, shimmering ducks racing behind little fluorescent frogs in mid-air, tunnels of light opening up at the horizon, dinosaurs, butterflies and light waves dancing to the tunes of Jai Ho and Vande Mataram: the laser light show demonstration held at Marine Drive on Saturday had the audience spellbound long after it was over. The show was organised by the Bangalore-based Laser Tech as a demonstration for the GCDA.
“We are planning to install a musical-water-fountain-cum-laser-light-show here as part of our tourism promotion initiatives. The technology used is German and right now it is available at tourist spots in Singapore, Dubai and other areas. Once installed, the laser light show will be performed on a water screen which will double up as a musical water fountain,” said GCDA Chairman N Venugopal.
The whole installation is expected to cost around Rs 3 crore but the GCDA hopes to recover the costs by conducting 3 to 4 shows on a daily basis.
The installation work is expected to begin in two months.
