HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy described the Union budget as the best budget for farmers, women and weavers of the country.Welcoming the budget, the chief minister said as against the allocation of Rs 4,75,000 lakh crore last year towards providing crop loans, this budget has increased it to Rs 5,75,000 crore. This year, farmers in the state have so far utilised Rs 48,000 crore under crop loans, which amounts to 12 percent. An increased allocation of Rs 1 lakh crore would be more beneficial to farmers, he said.The allocation of Rs 47,000 crore to Nabard towards strengthening regional rural banks will benefit the people in rural areas, he said.The impetus given in the budget will pave the way for creation of more godown space in the state, Kiran Kumar Reddy said and welcomed the allocation of Rs 100 crore to Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University. Setting up of a Viability Gap Fund for irrigation projects will help early completion of irrigation projects, he said.Interest subvention scheme was announced for eight districts affected by left wing extremism. This will benefit the state government to a large extent, he said. It may be recalled that the state government has already requested to extend the benefit to 1.39 crore SHG women in the state. The chief minister said that the finance minister will be urged to extend the benefit to all the districts in the state.He said sanctioning of two mega clusters in Guntur and Prakasam districts will benefit weavers and hailed the announcement of Rs 3,884 crore loan waiver for weavers. He recalled that the state government is already implementing the loan waiver scheme. Setting up of the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone in the state will pave the way for largescale investments and also result in rapid industrialisation of the state.
