THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Supreme Court on Friday deferred the opening of the last vault of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The apex court ordered that vault B of the Temple should not be opened for stock taking till July 15.While deferring the vault's opening the court asked the former Travancore royal family, who are the trustees of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, and the Kerala government to give suggestions on the security, conservation and preservation aspects of the temple and the treasure recovered.Travancore royal family's senior member King Marthanda Varma told the Supreme Court that he had no claim on the treasure found as it belonged to the god.There are six vaults in Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple from A to F and only vault B is yet to be opened.Meanwhile, the state government announced that Rs 1 crore will be allocated for temple security. Kerala Finance Minister KM Mani made the announcement in the state Assembly on Friday.Security is a huge concern after the vaults revealed a treasure trove worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore. Three battalions of Kerala Armed Police and some National Security Guards trained commandos having already been deployed at the temple.The creation of a special security zone around the Sree Padmnabhaswamy temple is also on the anvil to protect the huge treasure found in its vaults.The Supreme Court on Wednesday also ordered videography and photography of the treasure found at the temple.
