Kerala: CPM men want to see partys hands clean
The future of the party in Kozhikode depends on the list of the accused to be arrested in the TP murder case..

ONCHIYAM: K K Madhavan doubts that CPM might be behind the murder of his sonin- law and RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan. However, deep in the eyes of this septuagenarian communist, one could see a glimmer of hope that CPM, the party which has been his life and soul for decades, does not have any link with the murder. The majority of the hardcore CPM workers in Kozhikode district, particularly in and around Onchiyam, appears to be thinking on similar lines. According to sources, the future of the party in Kozhikode depends on the list of the accused to be arrested in the Chandrasekharan murder case. Says Madhavan, former secretary of CPM Balussery area committee: “I don’t know whether CPM leadership has any connection with the murder or not. If any valid link is established, that will cut off all my relationship with the party. Not just me, I hope thousands of others will come out criticising the decadence in the party.” Sources maintained that a significant number of people will quit the party if its involvement in the murder is proved. “No matter V S Achuthanandan leaves the party or not, we have reliable reports that a section of the CPM workers in Kozhikode district has already decided who should lead them under each area committee. A condolence meeting will be held in Kozhikode under the auspices of CPM leaders who shared a personal rapport with Chandrasekharan and his family. Besides, party members are planning a meeting at Nochad, the native place of CPM Kozhikode district secretary T P Ramakrishnan,” a senior leader of RMP said on Monday. Even though CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan himself addressed the party rank and file convening emergency meetings in Kozhikode, Koyilandy and Vadakara Taluks pleading innocence, the majority of the party workers are still a confused lot. “Party secretary has been asked to convince members that the CPM state leadership and district leaderships have no role in the murder. How can the party leaders clear the doubts of the workers and loyalists when party leaders at various organisational levels themselves are not convinced in the issue,” sources said.
