Karan Johar on Oye...: Farhan go home!
Karan Johar on Oye...: Farhan go home!
Farhan Akhtar makes you want to tear our hair out in agony.

Isn't Oye! It's Friday! supposed to be Farhan Akhtar's show? Then why did it feel like, it was Karan Johar's through and through on Friday February 20? With silly jokes we had left behind somewhere between Std II and V, Farhan Akhtar made us want to tear our hair out in agony. And we can swear it looked as if Karan wanted to do the same.

The show began with Karan Johar playing the host. But Farhan soon joined him (Did he really have to?). However, with every single minute, and every single question it became quite apparent that Karan Johar is a natural. He is spontaneous. He is funny – his 'fun' is not retrogressive (or in simple words, reminiscent of Class II). He is energetic. He is actually everything that one needs in a wonderful show host. And everything that Farhan Akhtar is not.

The part when Karan started off on how his mother is 'delusional and blind' for thinking he could make a Bollywood hero, was funny yet touching. It actually made us want to pat Karan's head or pull his cheeks. Farhan added NOTHING to it. However, when he started talking about the Abhishek Bachchan birthday parties where all the star kids used to get invited, and how Aditya Chopra used to win the dance competition every year, Farhan added a few 'yeah's and 'haan's.

The stupid, play acting in the middle, which Farhan obviously intended to be funny, seemed completely unnecessary. Firstly, because it was not fun. And secondly, because we had just started enjoying Karan's witticisms.

But we have to say that we enjoyed the show. Of course we'd have enjoyed it more if Farhan was not there. Or at least if he kept away from his silly jokes. But nonetheless, Karan alone kept us wanting to watch the show till the end.

KJo talked about his Hema Malini fantasy phase. To which Farhan added his bit of scoop. But the best was the part when he started on his most embarrassing moment. He talked about Simi Garewal's show where he was a guest along with Kajol. And the way he described Simi Garewal's trials and tribulations trying to maintain a 'stoic and proper' expression when Kajol blurted out that Karan is to marry some 'Guy from Ghatkopar' was exceptionally funny. And the incident seemed funny only because it was Karan talking about it. We're sure that had it been Farhan, we would have just absorbed the incident as a piece of information or news.

And that is what the problem is. While KJo is animated and spontaneous, Farhan, even when he says things from his heart, looks like he's reading out from a script. And the two being together on the show brought it out even more.

However, we endured even Farhan's silliness and the stupid blondes dancing (Thank god for Karan!) almost till the end…when Farhan just took his silliness to the next level (if there was one possible). He was sorry that he did not have a hamper for Karan on the show. So? So…he gave him a packet of Pampers (diapers)! Like HELLO! We stopped cracking such jokes in Class II. And we're still ashamed that we ever did. Even Karan couldn't control and declared on national television that it was by far the silliest joke he had heard ever! He even asked Farhan to go home. And thought he needed to relax. And we couldn't have agreed with him more!
