VELLORE: As many as 10 devotees who visited Melmayanur temple on ‘Kaanum Pongal’ day were injured, as the auto they traveled in fell into a trench, near Arcot, on Tuesday morning.Chandran (61) of Arcot along with 14 of his relatives had hired a load auto to visit Melmayanur temple on the occasion of the ‘Kaanum Pongal’. Gandhi (36) of the same area drove the vehicle. When they reached Mosur lake area near Timiri, the driver lost control of the vehicle and fell into a nearby trench. Ten persons including the driver were injured and were rushed to a private hospital in Vellore. Following the incident, the relatives of the injured gathered and held a road roko before the PHC. The road-roko affected the traffic for over 30 minutes in the area. Police have registered a case in connection with the accident.
