JVM urges Centre to accord Jharkhand special state status

The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric-JVM) on Friday urged the Centre to accord special status to the state, a day before its youth wing s proposed demonstration near the Raj Bhavan to realise the demand.

"The Centre says Jharkhand can take loan for its development. But the state is already in debt to the tune of Rs 34,000 crore," JVM Legislature Party leader Pradip Yadav claimed before press conference in Ranchi. "Therefore, the Centre should accord the special status to Jharkhand to relieve its burden as well as helping its development," Yadav, also the party s Principal General Secretary, said.

"Because the state deserves the special status as funds for welfare programmes can be carried forward to one fiscal to another financial year, besides getting other benefits in putting Jharkhand among the developed states," he argued.

Stating that the demonstration in Ranchi would be organised under the banner of JVM s youth wing----Jharkhand Vikas Yuva Morcha, Yadav said JVM president and former chief minister Babulal Marandi would be present during the stir, after which a memorandum would be handed over to Governor Syed Ahmed.
