New Delhi: It is judgement day for Lalit Modi as the Supreme Court is expected to hear BCCI's petition seeking to stop the former IPL chief from taking over as president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association.

This even as the apex court is also expected to declare the results of the RCA elections which took place on December 19.

Despite warnings from BCCI, the Rajasthan Cricket Association allowed Modi to contest for the post of the panel's president. The elections were held with court appointed observers watching over the proceedings.

The Modi faction is confident of sweeping the polls with a huge margin, though the BCCI, in a last-ditch effort, filed the petition that pleads that his association with RCA, will tarnish the image of Indian cricket.

In September 2013, a life-ban was imposed on Lalit Modi by BCCI for financial irregularities when he was the IPL commissioner.

However, Modi was allowed to contest as RCA election does not come under BCCI guidelines.
