Raipur: Veteran Congress leader and former Chattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi's family owns only a Tempo Traveller as mode of travel, says his wife Renu in the property details filed with the nomination papers for the Kota Assembly seat by-election.
Amid intense rivalry and lobbying by various factions, the Congress fielded Renu Jogi as party candidate on Friday – the last day for filing nomination papers for the by-election.
The state's ruling BJP candidate Bhupendra Singh Thakur claimed in his affidavit that he has movable and immovable properties worth Rs 1.8 million.
Election for the seat, which has been won continuously by the Congress party since 1952, will be held on December 4.
Thakur lost the Kota seat to Congress leader and the state's first Assembly speaker Rajendra Prasad Shukla in the last Assembly poll in December 2003.
The by-election has been necessitated as Shukla died recently after prolonged illness.
