SIT chief R K Raghavan has conducted meeting with the staff at its office in Gandhinagar to finalise the report.

Ahmedabad: The Supreme Court appointed Special Investigating Team (SIT) conducting preliminary inquiry on complaints against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and 62 others is in the final stages of completing its report, SIT sources said today.

SIT chief R K Raghavan is on a two day visit here and conducted meeting with the staff at its office in Gandhinagar to finalise the report, they said.

SIT, whose term ends on April 30, had submitted a progress report in January on the probe to the apex court and further hearing on the matter is scheduled for later next month.

Raghavan, however, was not available for comments.

Zakia, who's husband ex-MP Ehsan Jaffrey was among the 69 killed during the 2002 riots in Gulburg society, has alleged that Modi, his cabinet colleagues, certain police officers and senior bureaucrats aided and abetted post-Godhra riots of 2002.

Modi was questioned by SIT in connection with Zakia's complaint on March 27 for over nine hours.

SIT has already recorded statements of a number of persons named in Zakia's complaint which include former minister of state for Home Gordhan Zadafia, BJP leader I K Jadeja, former BJP MLA from Lunawada Kalu Malivad and sitting MLA from Mehsana Anil Patel, former IPS officer R B Sreekumar, social activist Teesta Setalvad, IG Shivanand Jha, some other senior police officers and political leaders.
