New Delhi: India on Thursday officially asked Pakistan to arrest November 26, 208 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed to be arrested during the Foreign Secretary level talks in New Delhi.
Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao told her Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir that Pakistan must act against Saeed during the talks that lasted for 45 minutes at Hyderabad House.
India also handed over fresh dossier to Pakistan on the Mumbai attacks with details of National Investigative Agency probe about the roles played by alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba operatives David Coleman Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana, both of whom are in the custody of US authorities for planning terror strikes against India.
India also asked from Pakistan about the role Headley and Rana played in 26/11 attacks.
India also gave two other dossiers to Pakistan. While one dossier was on Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami commander Ilyas Kashmiri and the other had details about other terrorists.
In all India has asked for details and action against 24 people out of which eight are related to 26/11.
The Indian dossier reportedly has details of electronic intercept of Pakistani handlers talking to terrorists during the Lal Chowk gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir in January as well.
The dossier has also asked for action against 10 Indian Mujahideen operatives believed to be in Pakistan, including Pune blast suspects Mohsin Chaudhary and Riaz Bhatkal.
Rao also told Bashir that Pakistan should not let use its territory for terror activities against India.
Pakistan, on the other hand, demanded resumption of Composite Dialogue between the two countries in the first-ever Indo-Pak bilateral talks since the Mumbai terror attacks.
Bashir also reminded India of the Sharm-el Sheikh declaration and also raised the Kashmir issue. Cross border infiltrations were also discussed.
In the first round of the talks Bashir met his Rao. After their talks got over, delegation level talks begun.
Earlier Bashir along with a five-member delegation met the host delegation led the Indian Foreign Secretary at Hyderabad House.
"I welcome Mr Bashir and I look forward to our talks," said Rao welcoming the Pakistani delegation.
Bashir reacted by saying, "Hyderabad House is a very familiar place for us. We look forward to a constructive engagement."
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has also e resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan.
"We have encouraged the resumption of direct talks which were suspended when President Pervez Musharraf left office. We continue to make the case to each separately as to why it is in their mutual interest to proceed," said Hillary.
Musharraf, in an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN on Wednesday, said that he wished leadership on both sides best of luck in trying to achieve peace.
