Also, the produce of the crop is much higher than the regular chillies. Hence, farmers can make extra profits by growing more bullet chillies on a small land.
In the wholesale market, bullet chillies are sold for one-third of the price. Yet, the farmers can mint more profits due to extremely high demands for bullet chillies compared to other varieties.
Hence, farmers in regions in and around the Sundarbans like Jayanagar, Kultali, Gosaba and Basanti have taken up planting bullet chilli plants along with other vegetables in their fields for higher income.
Bullet chilli is currently creating a stir in the kitchens of Indian households due to its great flavour profile. The higher demand for this has led to a decline in the demand for regular chillies and other varieties. Despite being low in price, due to extreme demand, the prices are gradually rising in these areas. Along with this, the export of these chillies outside the district has also boosted the prices which has been benefitting the farmers. This has made growing bullet chillies much more convenient and profitable for Sundarban farmers.
