In Madurai, Rajinikanth Fan Makes Unique Navratri Kolu Mandapam With Actor's Posters
The fan has created a five-step Kolu Mandapam, displaying images from over a hundred films in which Rajinikanth has acted and prepared as if they were Kolu dolls.

During the Navaratri festival that falls in the Tamil month of Purattasi, it is mandatory to display Kolu dolls and set up steps for the Kolu in temples, where special poojas are performed. However, in Madurai, a fan of Rajinikanth has uniquely prepared a five-step Rajinikanth Kolu mandapam.

Karthik, a resident of the Thirumangalam area in Madurai, had built a temple for Rajinikanth in his office. Now, for this year’s Navaratri, he has created a five-step Kolu Mandapam, displaying images from over a hundred films in which Rajinikanth has acted and prepared as if they were Kolu dolls.

This includes posters printed in one and one-and-a-half-foot sizes from films ranging from Rajinikanth’s debut in Apoorva Raagangal (1975) to classics like Moondru Mudichu, 16 Vayathinile, Aadu Puli Aattam, Dharmayuddham, Billa, Murattu Kaalai, Muthu, Padayappa, Chandramukhi, and more recent films like Vettaikaran and Coolie. In total, 171 films are represented in this unique Kolu display, and Karthik has placed these posters in order, treating them as Kolu dolls, and is conducting poojas for them during Navaratri.

Additionally, posters with captions like World Superstar, 49 Years of Rajinism, and His Generation is Rajinism are also featured. Karthik has even crafted clay dolls resembling Rajinikanth sitting on a swing, as seen in the movie Padayappa. Karthik mentions that his entire family are ardent fans of Rajinikanth and that they have spent 45 days preparing this Rajini-themed Navaratri Kolu. He adds that other Rajini fans are also visiting to view the display.

Besides, Rajinikanth was discharged on Thursday evening after a brief hospital stay in Chennai. He posted his first statement on X (formerly Twitter) thanking everyone who prayed for him. His daughter, Aishwarya Rajinikanth, attended a Navratri puja after his discharge.

Rajinikanth posted a message on X in Tamil that reads something like this, “To all my political friends who wished me a speedy recovery, to all my friends from the film industry, to all my well-wishers, to the press and media, my sincere thanks to all of you. And to the fans who made me, who keep me alive and love me immeasurably and pray for my well-being. I want to express my sincere thanks to all of you.”
