THANJAVUR/TIRUVARUR: Police have intensified efforts to trace Sasikala’s brother V K Divaharan after his anticipatory bail petition at the Madras High Court was adjourned for a week. The police have conducted search operations to find Divaharan who is absconding after initial inquiries by the police in his residence on Saturday. They have searched the residence of T V Mahadevan, son of Sasikala’s brother late Vinodhan, residing at First Street, Parisutham Nagar in Thanjavur. Divaharan is facing charges of demolition of houses belonging to a woman named Kasthuri, wife of Balasubramanium of Rishiyur in Needamangalam taluk in Tiruvarur district. A police team conducted preliminary probe and searched Mahadevan’s home based on intelligence input. According to sources, a high level team has been formed to keep a watch on members of Divaharan’s family in Thanjavur and Tiruvarur. Simultaneous raids were held in the residences of doctor Alagarasan, advocate Chandrasekaran, ‘sound service’ Sekaran and Natarajan’s brother Palanivel. Tiruchy Central Range IG Alexander Mohan IPS held a special meet with Tiruvarur SP S Xavier Dhanaraj. A police team raided two properties of Amudha, principal of Sengamala Thayar woman’s College, Mannargudi owned by Divaharan. Tiruvarur police has picked up six persons to know the whereabouts of Divaharan on Tuesday. The detained are Pattarai Sivanandam, business associate, Siddarthan, driver, Paneerselvam, government school headmaster, Paneer, manager at Sengamala Thayar College and aides Ashokan and Ranganathan. With hearing on the anticipatory bail filed by Divaharan being adjourned to January 31 by the HC, the police are keen to find him.
