High schools to be upgraded

BHUBANESWAR: The Government has decided to upgrade 14 high schools to Plus Two science colleges in the tribal districts of the State.The SC and ST Development Department which has received sanction from the Finance Department for establishment of the colleges has decided that each will have 64 seats. All the districts which will get the Junior Science Colleges are those covered under the Tribal Sub-Plan, according to Minister Lal Behari Himirika.TEACHER POSTS: Meanwhile, the SC and ST Development Department has decided to create 2,000 teacher posts in the schools run by it. For improvement of girls education, the State Government has established 2,400 100-bed hostels and 1,000 more are underway. In the last few years, enrolment in these schools has jumped to 3.6 lakh.
