Jharkhand High Court on Monday rejected the bail petition of Anil Bastawade, an alleged aide of former Chief Minister Madhu Koda, who is an accused in a multi-crore money laundering scam.
The Bench of Justice HC Mishra dismissed the petition, saying granting bail could influence the investigation of the case. Bastawade was arrested and brought to New Delhi from Jakarta on January 28 last year and the Enforcement Directorate filed a chargesheet against him in the court of Prevention of Money Laundering Act on March 23.
Koda got bail on July 30 last year after being in jail from November 30, 2009 following raids by CBI, Income Tax Department and ED at 69 places across the country.
Thereafter, several cases pertaining to alleged corruption during his tenure as the Chief Minister between 2006 and 2008 were lodged, and according to the investigators, probe in the cases are continuing.
