Body of a 10-year-old girl, who was missing since May 22, has been found buried in an agricultural field at Kachbaindi village in Harda district, police said on Saturday.
The girl's family alleged that she was raped and murdered by a youth, however, police has not confirm the charge.
The body was found buried under a heap of stones in an agricultural field on Friday, police said.
However, Dr Kapil Raghuwanshi of district hospital said that according to a preliminary autopsy report the girl bore injury marks on her private parts and rest of the body.
Police said the victim had gone to attend a marriage function in the village where a youth reportedly purchased some eatables from a shop for her and since then both of them went missing.
The youth was spotted in the village on Friday and was thrashed by locals before they handed him over to the police.
When contacted, Harda SP Deepak Varma said that villagers have caught a youth and handed him over to police and further action will be taken after getting the final autopsy report.
