BANGALORE: The state government on Monday filed an appeal in the High Court stating that according to the cooperative rules,the appointment of the MD of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) was legal.The State filed an appeal following the court’s direction on November 23 to appoint an  eligible person for the post of managing director of KMF and frame charges against the former MD Ramalingegowda, who is facing allegations of misappropriation of funds and irregularities. Ramalingegowda was appointed as the MD of KMF on April 3 2007, but was suspended on July 27 2010. Soon, A S Premnath was appointed as the in-charge and was appointed as MD on April 20, 2011. Consequently, Ramalingegowda and other aspirants had questioned the appointment of Premnath and had filed a petition.The division comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B V Nagarathana, adjourned the matter for further hearing.HC Summons Governor’s SecyThe High Court on Monday directed the Secretary to the Governor to be present before the court on January 6 in a case relating to the appointment of Dr H Maheshappa as Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technical University (VTU) allegedly by furnishing false information.Hearing a petition by Maheshappa which stated that he needed time to furnish his records, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna directed him furnish his academic records in two days and adjourned the matter for further hearing. It was alleged that during his appointment, Maheshappa had furnished false information about his academic records. He had claimed that he had got a first class in engineering course, but records showed that he obtained a second class.
