New Delhi: If you like action films then ‘The Expendables 2’ is your trip to heaven. You wouldn’t be able to find a single contemporary action hero missing from the cast of this film. Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, you just name it and they will appear on the screen.
After the moderate success of ‘The Expendables’, the dream team is back with ‘The Expendables 2’. However, there is a small difference, the first film was directed by Sylvester Stallone while the sequel is made under the leadership of Simon West.
Based on a story by Ken Kaufman, David Agosto and Wenk, the latest edition will see the team in action in Nepal where it is supposed to rescue a Chinese businessman. Initially what seemed to be a cakewalk, the task gets stiffer with each passing moment.
The highlight of the film is breathtaking actions performed by the stars known for their combat skills. The first part was high on action but low on entertainment quotient. The over-abundance of action stars made the film monotonous. Probably this is the reason that the makers opted for a new director in ‘The Expendables 2’.
Simon West has directed films such as ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’, ‘The Mechanic’ and ‘Stolen’ in the past. His chemistry with Jason Statham in ‘The Mechanic’ worked well, so Statham is expected to play a bigger role this time.
Stallone is expected to play the central role like the first part while other actors will be seen in supporting roles. Van Damme’s entry into the film will give a new flavour to the action.
The film will definitely receive the initial eyeballs due to its high star quotient, but its run on the ticket window will be decided by the content.
