DVAC sleuths also conducted searches at the residence of TAMIN senior accounts officer Pandurangan at Urapakkam. An official release said the “officers abused their position and despite being aware of the large-scale irregularities in the quarrying activities, prepared false reports with a mala fide intention, deliberately concealing the encroachments and illegal quarrying in water bodies in Madurai district.”Kamaraj, who was the then Collector of Madurai, “knowingly and willfully suppressed the material facts in the reports given by his subordinates that there are visible symptoms of illegal mining and sent a blatantly false report to the Government stating that there was no encroachment or illegal quarrying in kanmois/tanks.
