Five held for selling Adi Dravidar land

ERODE: Five persons, Veeramani (27), his brother Saravanan (23), Buvanendran (38), Veerakumar (28) and Rajkumar (24),  were arrested for allegedly occupying lands allotted to Scheduled Caste (SC) people by the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department and then selling it to others. The police also seized `1.90 lakh in cash and mobile phones from them.Inquiries revealed that the accused had collected `2,000 as initial payment from around 5,000 people under a ‘scheme’. The arrests were made after Manoj of Sithambalam in Tirupur petitioned Perundurai Tahsildar Panneerselvam after being allegedly cheated by the group.
