New Delhi: Swiss World No. 1 Roger Federer is bidding to win a fifth Wimbledon title on the trot, which will equal the record set by Bjorn Borg when he takes on Spain's World No. 2 Rafael Nadal on Sunday.
Federer, indeed, looks in fine form to do it. The top seed beat Richard Gasquet in straight sets 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 in the semi-final on Saturday.
"Last year I played well, didn't drop a set and had an incredibly tough draw. I played Nadal with a huge amount of confidence. It's similar this year; I have played well, maybe not as dominating as I did last year, but still I'm feeling good in the opportunity to win this tournament again," Federer says ahead of his final game.
Facing Federer on court will be Rafael Nadal, the man who beat the defending champion three weeks ago at the French Open final.
Nadal looked to be in some trouble against Serbian Novak Djokovic, losing the first set in the semi-fnal. But the relentless Spaniard came back strongly to take the second. It was then that Djokovic started having trouble with his toe, eventually conceding the match.
"Winning a match like yesterday and today after he (Djokovic) had to retire, that's tough for everyone, especially for him. I feel sorry for him first of all. This year, I have been playing so much better than last year. Sure he (Federer) is the favourite, no one has any doubts about this, but I'm going to try my best, I'm not going to contain him, I will play my aggressive tennis," Nadal says as he bids to break Federer's stronghold at the All England Championships.
