Fair at Sooryakanthi from September 5

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  It is that time of the year when  Kanakakkunnu and its premises drench in Onam festivities, courtesy the numerous programmes of the Tourism Department.  The Onam trade fair and exhibition, an annual affair held at Sooryakanthi grounds, is just one among the events planned in this connection.  This year’s trade fair and exhibition will commence at the venue on September 5 and will conclude on September 14. The fair, which has the participation of various  departments, merchants and other establishments, will see over 160 stalls coming up at the venue. The inaugural function will be held at 3.30 pm on  September 5.  Minister for Tourism A P Anilkumar will inaugurate the fair. K Muraleedharan MLA will preside over the function.  Minister for Transport and Devaswom V S  Sivakumar will inaugurate the sale.  Handicraft items, household items, furniture, books, fancy items, textiles and other stuff will be kept for sale at the fair.  Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation will have an increased  participation this time. Stalls by Kudumbashree units will also be there.
