New Delhi: Facebook has launched a new app, that the world's largest social networking service says, will make the task of messaging easier. The Facebook Messenger can be used to exchange messages with the user's friends on Facebook as well as with other contacts on the user's phone contact list.

The new Facebook Messenger app is an extension of Facebook messages and it integrates all conversations - texts, chats, emails and messages - and makes them available at one place. The Messenger app also has group messaging features.

"When you're on the go, coordinating a bunch of people can be tricky, especially if plans change at the last minute," Facebook engineer Lucy Zhang said in a post on the official Facebook blog. "With Messenger, you can quickly start a group conversation and message everyone at once."

Messages are delivered through notifications and texts. The Messenger app is available for both iPhone and Android and also has location- and photo-sharing features.
