HYDERABAD: An engineering student died and his friend suffered injuries after their bike was hit allegedly by an army truck at Banjara Hills on Sunday morning. K Nikhil Dutta (22), was a BTech final year student of a private engineering college and a resident of Balkampet. According to police, Nikhil and his friend, Ramesh, went to one of their friend’s house in Mehdipatname for a night-out on Saturday and stayed there. Around 7.30 am on Sunday morning when they were on their way to Balkampet, an army truck hit their bike at Banjara Hills Road No 1/10 junction.The duo fell on the road and were severely injured. They were immediately rushed to hospital. Nikhil died while undergoing treatment while Ramesh is still undergoing treatment. Police said eye-witnesses and the injured person identified the vehicle as an army truck but no one could provide the vehicle’s registration number.Banjara Hills police registered cases under Section 304-A (rash and negligent act leading to death) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life).
