The East Central Railway zone has achieved a record earning of Rs 1634.52 crore in 2012-13 fiscal which is about an 11 per cent increase from the previous financial year, its General Manager Madhuresh Kumar said on Friday.
He said that the zone comprising five divisions -- Danapur, Mughalsarai, Dhanbad, Samastipur and Sonepur -- collected Rs 1634.52 crore in passenger fares in 2012-13, a rise by 10.75 per over the previous financial year. In case of freight, the zone headquartered at Hajipur for the first time in its 11 years loaded 102.53 million tonne in 2012-13, an increase of 8.29 per cent as compared to the last financial year.
A total of 9.175 lakh cases of ticket-less travel were detected in the last fiscal and Rs 32.56 crore was realised as penalty, he said. The ECR said a lot of attention is being paid to cleanliness at stations.
